Gay Beach (Hollywood Beach)
Welcome to Hollywood Beach—affectionately known as “the gay beach.” Located in Edgewater near the Bryn Mawr Red Line stop, this Lake Michigan spot transforms into a sun-soaked LGBTQ+ paradise every summer. Expect beach towels, music, volleyball, speedos, and a friendly, flirty crowd. It’s where locals meet tourists, old friends reunite, and new ones are made—all with the skyline in the background. Aside from Queen, this is where the entire spectrum of Chicagos Queer Community meets all at once and all are welcomed.

When Chicagoans take a rest, queer adventurers look beyond for fun few outside the Midwest know about. Head to Saugatuckfor lakeside lounging and gay beach days, or hit the trails at Starved Rockand the Indiana Dunes for nature with a side of flirtation.
